Arrived and safe and well

we arrived safe and sound in Pakistan. The journey was a long one but we had stop overs filled with hacki-sack speed scrabble and naps. The plane rides to Lahore were filled with a sea of mixed emotions dominated with excitement and nervousness. Fortunately on arrival to Lahore we were met by a family friend Moheb, who sorted our rides hotels and buse to Islamabad out. Iw as really thankful to have hime help us as I am sure it would have taken an eternity otherwise. After aq quick sleep in lahore we jumped on a 4 hour bus to Islamabad where we were greated by our small ball of energy Guide Abbas.
despite the news regarding violence in the mosque in Isalmabad life was going on as normal and aside from media reports we wouldnt have known that anything was happening. The unrest was aparently restircted to one area only of which we saw nothing.
As I expected it is an extremely different country and so intriging. The colors and people are so vibrant that it makes life back home seem so regemented. The traffic is crazy but the chaos somehow seems to work. The funniest Image i have from yesterday is looking at a no over taking sign with 3 cars (all going the same way), a sea of oncoming traffic all going by a donkey and cart.
This morning we left Islamabad for a small town called Skardu which is nested on the edge of the Karakoram. The plane journey amongst the mountain ranges almost mad me feel like the peaks were towering above us. I was happy to leave the bustle of the city,. things are alot quiter now and we cant wait to head into the hills.
