Ya Baby!

We've made it. Arrived in Skardu this morning on one of the sketchiest and most breathtaking plane rides of my life. Afer arriving in Lahore on the 8th, then busing to Islamabad (where I awoke to the sounds of artillery, as trouble has broken out between Islamic extremists and the Pakistani military) and getting the heck out of there we flew early today on a very old boeing jet to Skardu.

Our plane to Skardu left something to be desired but the views from up there were unbelievable! We actually flew right beside Nanga Parbat, not over it but right beside it's summit (note: we were flying at a crusing altitude somewhere around 27 000 feet!)

Tomorrow we head up valley to visit with our guides family in his home village (a very exciting experience!) Then back to Skardu for final preparations and then on to the roadhead and basecamp where we will be for the next 23 days!
