The Team

Sarah, Luisa, Jacqui
Mt Baker on a windy day in spring

Our team is made up of 3 women: Luisa: the trad climber, Jacqui: the mountaineer and Sarah: the sport climber.

LUISA:
Luisa has recently finished an Msc in the field of Exercise Physiology at the University of British Columbia in Vancouver. She is now working at the Lab for Environment and Exercise Physiology at Simon Fraser University in Burnaby BC where she is developing an evergrowing desire to further study altitude physiology.
Luisa began climbing 5 years ago while at university in the UK. On the gritstone outcrops of the Peak District she learned to climb traditionally, where bolts and anchors did not exist. Her initial years of climbing in the UK and Europe enabled her to develop both traditional and sport climbing skills on a variety of rock types such as gritstone, conglomerate, granite, sandstone and limestone.
Since arriving in Canada she has visited and climbed in numerous localities such as Squamish, Skaha, Yosemite, Bishop, Maple Canyon, Frenchman’s Coulee, Joshua Tree, Redrocks, Moab, Indian Creek and City of Rocks. This has allowed her to develop her rock climbing skills to a level whereby she feels most at home on a granite splitter. In addition, a recent trip to Bugaboos National Park and a number of days in the coastal mountains of BC has given her a good base of mountaineering skills.
Luisa particularly enjoy's moving quickly on moderate mountainous terrain and has an ever growing obsession with granite splitters, long days and self propelled adventures. For those of you who have not discovered it yet BICYCLES ARE THE WAY OF THE FUTURE!

JACQUI:

Jacqui is now working as a resident physician in Vancouver – undertaking a five year residency in Anesthesia. Much of her spare time is now spent in Squamish and on road trips to rock climbing Mecca’s of the Southern United States.
She has had a lifetime of experience in the mountains, growing up with climbing parents – summer holidays were spent in the Alberta or BC mountains instead of on the beach. Her passion for wild places has taken her on a 54 day ski/climb expedition of the St. Elias Mountains of Alaska and the Yukon, shortly after finishing her undergraduate degree in
Immunology at UBC. This trip included an ascent of Mt. Logan’s East Ridge, and ski descent of the King’s Trench route. During her training to complete an MD at the University of BC, she made 2 trips to the Huayhuash range of mountains in Peru for both Ice and rock climbing.
Another, more local adventure included a sailing trip out of Vancouver harbour up the inner coast of BC to the mouth of the Homathko river, and a subsequent 2 week ski traverse of the Homathko Ice-field, that included many ascents of mountainsin that range, including but not limited to Mt. Bute and Mt. Grenville.
Other climbing forays that have happened over the years include trips to in South Africa, Uganda, New Zealand, and Thailand.

SARAH:

Sarah is currently working on her Bachelor’s of Business Administration in Vancouver, British Columbia. She has climbed and competed throughout Canada and the USA consistently redpointing 5.12d sport, V8 and 5.11 trad. She began her foray into the big mountains in 2005 traveling to the Miyar Nala Valley, India as a member of an international climbing team.

Sarah will be paramount in ‘getting the rope up there!’ She is the strongest technical rock climber of the group and consistent in both skill and strength on rock. She will be getting us through the technical cruxes of this climbing objective. But beyond that her infectious laugh, good nature and driven personality will be a fantastic part of our team.
